Match

They just sort of go together.
Boy and Dog.
I've been informed that the name Antic, which I had been rooting for, is out.
So the puppy remains nameless while we take into account his personality
and until we can settle on something both Keith and I like,
and The Monkey can say.

Hmmmm.
What to call this little fellow.

What is your pet's name, and how did you settle on it?

  4. When my youngest grandson got his dog he was about 2 and called everybody Buddy. So, the dog got named Buddy.

    Your dog is great!

  5. I forgot to mention that the people that had his dog had 12 in the litter. They had named Buddy......Coy. Needless to say Coy was not a keeper name.

  6. I have 2 cats. Atticus and Scout. I read To Kill a Mockingbird one too many times.

I must say that Atticus is a great name for a pet. Sometimes we call him Atty for short. When he's been real naughty we call him badicus.

Okay...I'm done campaigning for that name.

  7. I think this guy looks like a Benny! And then later on you can get him a lady friend and name her Joon :)

My pups name is Vemelope Sweetie Pie Lover Lamb Chop, she is named after 4 yr olds imaginary friend... :)

  8. Ohhh, the naming is always a challenge. My original Maltese girl is named Molly Dolly...Molly because it's a cute, spunky name that is just like her personality and Dolly because she's cute as a doll. My other Maltese dogs came named (rescue doggies), but I gave them middle names from me...Bijou "Bear" (because he was as cuddly as a bear), Maverick "Jack" (because I always wanted a dog named Jack like Little House on the Prairie), and Bella "Button" (because she was as little and cute as a Button). My parents had a Maltese named Ellie...she was originally a Kelly, but they just dropped the K and came up with Ellie. (Can you tell we're fans of the Maltese breed?) I think your idea of waiting and observing is a great idea.

  9. My dog's name is Carl, he's a peek-a-poo. If you've never seen one, google it, and then picture one that's 25 lbs. and named Carl.

  10. I have a female black pug named Maude which truly fits her. We also have a very inquisitive cat named Eugene. My husband is a Master Brewer, so I had wanted to name him Brewster, but it didn't fit his personality. Looking at that doggy, I vote for Abe or Winston. Oooo... if you pick a name we suggest can we get some rosey earrings? ;-)

  11. Oh my gosh. You guys are hilarious!! Keep them coming. We've been discussing it for the last two hours and are still batting zero.

Keith votes for Piddle. Because that's all the pup seems to do. PIDDLE. Really??

Mason just says "Puppydoll." (Trying to say "puppy dog".) Nonstop and often in strings of five or more repetitions. That's a long name when you quote The Monkey.

I love all the suggestions. Great stories. We so love our furballs, don't we? :)

  12. My dog's name is Beasley- he was named after Pam Beesly on the show The Office. He's kind of disgusting.

My cats are Kitterson and Finn. Actually Kitterson we've called Kiku most of his life- this is because we got him when Julia was too little to say his name and she started calling him Kiku (Keekoo).

  13. Maybe, since your business is called Rosy "Revolver", you could name him Winchester or Colt or Smith or Wesson.

    He sure is cute!

  14. Ooooooh he is adorable! He seems like a Puddles to me...

  15. she came with her name...and the gerbils were named by the boys...slash and shadow....
that puppy looks like a Ruger!
I think that goes well with Rosy Revolver...watcha think?

  16. Wow, dificult decision...I have two cats; one is called Xino because this was the name which my grandpa used to call all cats, and it's a sweet name. The other is called Sophie, because she's small and very cute kitty, and Sophie is the name of wisdom. I like your puppy, he's so cute...maybe you can try with Titus, it's the name of my teddy dog I have since I was 6!! ;-D
    Have a wonderful day!!

  17. They do match indeed! *adorable* I love the name Antic & may have to steal it if I ever let The Boy have a doggy!

  18. I was trying to think of something that had to do with guns or photography. Ruger really is pretty cool. Y'all will figure out the perfect name. Can't wait to hear all about the past 15 hours.

  19. Aww, how adorable! I think they make the perfect match!! :)

  20. We named our dog Hudson (after the Hudson Hornet in the movie Cars), but he still looks like a Murphy to me (I was out voted). I also liked the name Rowdie. Very cute puppy, welcome home little guy!

  21. I think he is adorable too! Oh how I love puppy breath! The best smell ever!

I think he looks sorta chocolate colored, how about "Nestle" or "Hershey"?

My lil' gal is Phoebe. Fits her personality to a T!

  22. That is one adorable puppy... I like Marita's idea.

A number of years ago I picked out a little black kitten from a local shelter. For the first few weeks she had the WORST GAS I have ever smelled from any creature, so I named her Stinky.
I still call her a she, because when I picked her out they said she was female. We took her to the vet YEARS after getting her and he informed us that she was a he... oops. At least it was a gender nutral name. :)

  23. So cute! All of my dogs weren't named, after having them around for a few days something would just come out.. My golden Izzy was so spastic, I called her spizzy, it just became Izzy. And I never watched Grey's Anatomy. Her other name is Moosey- or Izzy Moosey cause she just plows over people like a Moose.
My beloved past cat was Bootle. This was because when I lived in England, every bus was always going to Bootle but I was not. She fit that perfectly.

  24. What about Tux or Tuxedo for his white chest which makes him look like he's wearing a tux? In that 3rd picture, the pup looks so attentive, like he's a great listener, all ears, so you might want to name him something that has to do with listening, like Hark!
I've told you about how I named my girls-- Spenser and Sheba, and the one I lost, Sophie; I'm sure you'll find the name that's right for all 3 of you. Congrats on the new baby in the house. I hope you start training him soon, so he'll be a pleasure to have around for a long, long time. Amen.

  25. We are having the same problem as you. Got a new puppy last Friday and just can't come up with the right match. I did like the gun name suggestions for yours - thought that was cute.

  26. He is just precious. Both of them, Monkey & puppy.

I have a rescue dog & her name was Nee-cee when I got her. She's the one in my avatar so she certainly doesn't look like a Nee-cee. I've always picked out several names I liked & let my dogs pick. I know it sounds crazy, but it works. I tried several names with Nee-Cee & I happened to be hooked on geographic names with her for some reason. I tried Savannah, Cheyenne, Cleo (because of her "eyeliner"). The first time I said "Dakota" she looked at me & wagged her tail. I knew she had picked out her name. I've done it with puppies & it worked as well. I know it seems to be a stange way to pick a name, but I'm kinda woo-woo like that. :)

  27. I have a female golden retriever. Her coat is very light (sunshine blond instead of a more rust color) and her name is Ginger. I thought her coat was ginger root colored, my sister was obsessed with the Spice Girls at the time and well Ginger Spice, and my mom and dad liked the name... So the family pup was named Ginger.

  28. How absolutely adorable! My former cats used to be named Franc and Buzz. We like naming pets with old fashioned people names. Names that you would never give your children :)
